Monday 31 December 2012

There are thousands of bloggers who are blogging on regular basis with their amazing travel experience & splendid photography. I am not the guy who belongs to them since I am neither a great writer nor photographer.

I am an IT guy who works in a Private sector & waiting eagerly to travel when even the time permits. My passion is to travel solo or with troop. I had been to the different provinces of India. Many of my pal's forced me to share my real time experience of my travels, treks, repelling, and mountain climbing by blogging.

At last I decide to start a blog, hence I am here. I came up with my new solo voyage to "ORISSA" by bike.

I ha planned to visit Orissa for 5 days. I planned my road trip in October & decided to celebrate Christmas at Orissa and applied leaves according and waiting for its approval!

My contemporaries started asking about my ride & murmuring about it and started saying I am crazy guy who travel all the time & wasting lots of money. Also people suggest to get a girl friend to enjoy life in love. The thing I know is Being travelling is like being in love.

Finally, my vacation is on… My preparation starts with route map.

Started hunting for fellow couch surfers so that they may accommodate during my visit.

The day Friday (21-Dec-2012) has arrived, back to office in the morning but no mood to work, my mind is filled with travel plan, destinations, cautions to be taken, about the packing, etc.. For every hour I will be peeking at watch, damn god ! the clock is not moving ahead. Waited clock to ring 5:00 PM, started running out of office. Completed packing by 7:00 PM.

I started my ride from Gachibowli, Hyderabad towards Bhadrachalam via Kammam. It's weekend Friday roads are totally jammed because of traffic. To ride 29KMS it took 2 hours to reach LB nagar. However reached Vijayawada highway NH 9, road is too good to ride in night.

The highway leads to “Suryapet” from there took halfway towards Bhadrachalam. The road is not recommended to ride in nights for 2 wheeler.  Reached Bhadrachalam bridge around 2:45AM.

Entered Bhadrachalam around 3:15AM found some free hermitage to get some sleep, but it’s not safe since I am carrying camera, lenses, and mobile. I found some good place next to the hermitage, opened the tent & lay to take some rest.

DAY – 1 (Saturday, 22-Dec-2012):-

I woke up at 6:00AM, unable to sleep because of cold, then approached the hermitage & paid 10 Rs place all my stuff in the locker. Refreshed & took hot water bath. Really I am in bliss during my shower! My body is touching with some hot liquid. After revitalize started walking towards the Sri Ram Temple, in one hour I completed my visit to temple & started walking around the shrine. Photo which I took in the surroundings:-

I had my breakfast at Bhadrachalam and started my ride by 9:45AM towards “Konta” in Chhattisgarh. Once I moved out of the city, I started feeling the vibrations of road, I am totally in joy which I can’t express, only the real rider can feel that when he/she is on that road. Surroundings are covered with Eastern Ghats, riding in between the forest in such a great roads, wow! It thrills. Of course I rode in better than these roads. Still whenever you ride in this kind of roads you can’t explain the fun.

I reached the Border of Chhattisgarh by 11:30AM place called Konta. Here there is a river called Shabari which apart Chhattisgarh & Orissa. Reached Shabari river bank and waiting for boat to cross from other bank.

I opened my biker gloves, Helmet & placed on the bike & moved around to capture some photos. In fraction of 2 minutes my gloves were stolen. Holy god! I started asking each & every person in the river bank. Everyone says same answer that they don’t know.

Boarded the boat with lots of confusion, boat started moving to the other bank of shabari. While travelling in the boat my mind was thinking about my next auxiliary ride 2500KMS without gloves?? Noooooo! I can’t ride in nights, since it will be too cold. What about riding in damn hot sun during mornings? I already had the sunburn on my hands and Doctor recommends to ride with full sleeves & gloves.

What the hell do I need to do now? By the time I reached the other bank of river Shabari, this place is called Motu & it’s a part of Orissa. I took a route towards Malkangiri. This road is full of pits it took 125 KMS too see the good road. Some snaps on this way.

Major transportation in this road

I reached Malkangiri in evening. It took 5-6hours to complete 125KMS-. Maximum speed which I rode was 20-25 KM/Hours without gloves.

I enquired about Bonda tribal camp & safety about my stay at their camp. People didn’t suggest visiting the camp alone. Also informed that on Sundays there will be Mundiguda market, so all tribes will be coming there to sell their commodities. Hence decided to stay at Malkangiri to night & now headed towards the Satiguda dam. I stayed till sunset, its a splendid dam some of the pics.

I met college students, they become good friends & helped me to search some temporary gloves also one guy hosted me at his place that night. According to my plan I should be 300KMs ahead by this place since I need to visit tribes I stayed at Malkangiri.

DAY – 2 (Sunday, 23-Dec-2012):-

I started from Malkangiri in the route of Jaypur reached Govindapally. From there took halfway road towards Mundiguda. I reached Market by 10:30AM & I saw many tribes all over the market with their goods. I started taking pictures of Bonda tribes.

One female tribe came to me and started demanding for money since I took her photo. I paid 10Rs to her, but her husband started demanding me 100Rs. I paid 50Rs and left the place.

Populaces around me told not to pay for these tribes, if I keep doing that everyone will start arduous for money. One policeman came to me around 11:30AM & informed me that photography is prohibited in this area. He started his inquiry.  Somehow I convinced him without any bribe J and left that market. Back to govindapally & towards Jaypur.

I reached Boipariguda, asked people about the Gupteshwer Road. I guy showed the Sign board which is written in Odiya, I started laughing in myself & asked others and started riding towards Gupteshwer temple. The route is too good for 30-35Kms then 10-15Kms its worst. This temple is in between the caves, the god sculpture is very beautiful which is formed naturally. Some of the Pics I took in the route.

I reached Jaypur by 6:00PM and stepped in to hotel, Started sipping a tea with samosa chat next to some old person. I started my conversation with him to know about the route towards Rayagada. He told me to take road towards salur & Vizianagaram instead of Rayagada route since is too bad.

And he suggests not driving in this night since its hill station & curve roads, roads are not good in many places to reach Salur. I thanked him & started my journey towards Bhubaneshwar.

To be continued..........
